Northeast Maglev seeks an experienced, detail-oriented candidate to join its team as a Project Engineer focused on environmental permitting and transportation. This position will be responsible for a wide array of work from researching applicable regulations, vetting proposals for field evaluations, to coordinating with government agencies. The successful candidate will be technically competent, have experience in the development of large transportation projects, and demonstrate effective writing skills. The ability to read and understand specifications, engineering drawings, reports, and contracts is paramount to this role. This is a role where an analytical, dynamic, organized self-starter with strong communication skills will thrive.

Position Requirements / Duties

  • Work as part of a small internal project development team and as a key contributor to a larger multi-organizational project team
  • Project record management/organization
  • Research and compile key information; Review and/or draft technical reports
  • Draft statement of work (SOW) for consultants and contractors and guide the project’s environmental work
  • Develop presentations for management and delivery to the public
  • Coordinate deadlines and schedules and assist in preparation of integrated schedules
  • Work effectively with local, State and Federal agencies
  • Monitor deliverables/performance
  • Coordinate meetings with key stakeholders and clients
  • Willingness to speak up and make suggestions

Experience Required / Recommended

  • Three (3) years of progressively advancing work experience in environmental engineering, permitting, or transportation planning
  • Strong communications skills; both written and oral
  • Knowledge of the NEPA Process and/or Maryland environmental regulations
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of project management concepts and large-scale transportation projects
  • Proficient with MS Office

Experience Preferred

  • Experience with document management, quality management, project controls
  • Project Management software (MS Project, CMiC or PRIMAVERA) experience a plus
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, MicroStation, and AutoCAD
  • Environmental engineering experience

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or a related field from an accredited university
