In development in Japan for more than 50 years, the Superconducting Maglev (SCMAGLEV) technology harnesses powerful magnetic forces that lift and propel trains above a guideway at speeds of up to 375 mph.

The Superconducting Maglev consumes 50% less energy than commercial airplanes. By reducing vehicle miles traveled, Northeast Maglev is expected to reduce emissions, road congestion, and provide a myriad of other environmental benefits.

While high-speed travel will benefit travelers, the Northeast Maglev will also benefit local communities along the way. The project will bring educational opportunities, thousands of jobs, supporting industries and businesses, as well as tourism and a sense of local pride.
