Councilman Julian E Jones Jr. Believes that SCMaglev will Make a Difference In the Lives of the People that Ride it and Those that Don’t

Councilman Julian E. Jones Jr. has represented the people of Baltimore County for over 5 years. A Baltimore native, Councilman Jones has dedicated his life to helping others and serving the community. As a career firefighter, through work with the United Way, and now as a public servant, Councilman Jones is a champion for social justice and working families.

Councilman Jones is no newcomer when it comes to firsts. During his 29 year career as an Anne Arundel County firefighter, he became the first African American to serve as a division chief. In 2018 he was voted chairman of the Baltimore County Council – making him the first African American to lead a council in the county’s legislative body. There is no surprise that Councilman Jones supports bringing our nation’s first true high-speed rail to Baltimore.

If we can get them to and from work a lot sooner, we take cars off the street, which decreases the traffic, we’re decreasing in the carbon footprint, less cars on the road, and we’re giving people an opportunity. An opportunity to go further, quicker, get the nice decent job, decent pay, come back and enjoy the nice quality of life here Baltimore County.” – Councilman Julian E. Jones Jr., Baltimore County District 4

SCMaglev will be our nation’s first true high-speed rail transportation system –  Connecting Baltimore to D.C. in 15 minutes with a stop at the Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). The development of SCMaglev will bring proven advanced technology to the Northeast Corridor that is the fastest, safest and most environmentally friendly transportation system in the world.

Councilman Jones believes that SCMaglev will open up new frontiers that will provide many benefits for both those that ride the train as well as those who don’t.

It’s like a new frontier, it opens up a whole new area for you, where you can go there in a short period of time and be able to go to another job, and like I said right now today we still have a lot of people who live in Baltimore County that work in DC and they do it because of the job, because they love Baltimore County, but they spend an hour or an hour and a half just to commute sometimes.”

We at Northeast Maglev are proud to have the support of Council Julian E. Jones Jr. and are looking forward to bringing the Nation’s first true high-speed rail transportation system to the Northeast Corridor.

Now more than ever, Northeast Maglev believes that by working together we can do big things for our community. We are looking forward to continuing to partner with community and business groups throughout the region! Keep track of what we’re up to by following us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
