Large Majority support maglev project in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel County
Recent polling from Lake Research Partners, a leading national public opinion research firm, showed that the Northeast Maglev Project has the support of more than two-thirds of Prince George’s (68%) and Anne Arundel County (69%) voters.
Lake Research Partners was commissioned to design and administer two surveys on behalf of Northeast Maglev. The surveys were conducted using professional interviewers, conducted via telephone (cells and landlines). The first survey reflects a sample of 600 likely 2022 General Election voters in Prince George’s County, including oversamples totaling 100 interviews in each of the following four Councilmanic Districts: 1, 3, 4, and 5. The survey was conducted April 1-5, 2021. The second survey reflects a sample of 600 likely 2022 General Election voters in Anne Arundel County, including oversamples totaling 100 interviews in each of the following four Councilmanic Districts: 1, 2, 4, and 6. The survey was conducted April 28-29, 2021.

The survey also finds commanding levels of support across demographic subgroups of voters in the counties, including African American and white voters, men and women.
Support for the Northeast Maglev’s construction and operation also crosses partisan lines, with strong supportive majorities among Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.
The top reasons voters give for supporting the Northeast Maglev are that it will that it will reduce traffic; creating a faster, easier, and safer commute; that the area is in need of new and improved transportation options; that it will create good jobs in the area; and that it will be good for the environment.
The survey underscores astounding levels of public support for construction and operation of the Northeast Maglev and minimal opposition.
