Northeast Maglev first launched its summer internship program six years ago. Since hosting our first intern in 2019, we’ve welcomed many more passionate, energetic, and thoughtful student professionals into our ranks. This year, we are elated to introduce the first two interns joining the marketing team in our Baltimore office this summer!

Position: Marketing and Outreach Intern

Hometown: Greenbelt, MD

School & Year: Incoming senior at the University of Maryland, College Park

Area of Study: Information Science with a concentration in data science and a minor in technology innovation leadership.

What are you looking forward to about interning at Northeast Maglev?

I look forward to learning new marketing techniques and tools while sharpening my analytical skills in a real-world setting. Being part of a mission-driven team that blends innovation with public impact makes this opportunity even more meaningful.

What would you like to learn more about or explore this summer?

I’m eager to explore how data and marketing intersect. Specifically, how campaign performance is measured and how those insights guide future outreach. I’m interested in learning how organizations like Northeast Maglev use metrics and user feedback to tailor their messaging, expand their audience reach, and build strong community relationships.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to become a data scientist in the tech industry, using my analytical and technical skills to contribute to impactful projects, especially in areas like transportation, public health, or education. I’m passionate about making data meaningful and actionable. Eventually, I’d love to teach as well, combining my interest in education and technology to help others build their own paths in tech.

Position: Marketing & Outreach Intern

Hometown: Rochester, NY

School & Year: Recent graduate, Loyola University Maryland

Area of Study: Public Relations and Advertising

What are you looking forward to about interning at Northeast Maglev?

After studying abroad during my junior year of university, I understand just how much accessible public transportation can improve daily life. Additionally, as a personal victim of commuter traffic congestion in the DMV, I’m thrilled to help bring the future of high speed rail to the Northeast Corridor. This role will be an excellent opportunity to continue building my portfolio in community outreach, content creation, and project management. I look forward to jumping in with both feet.

What would you like to learn more about or explore this summer?

The most interesting thing about working in marketing communications is that each industry has its own unique challenges and opportunities. This will be my fourth internship to date, but in the few days since stepping into the office, I have already learned so much about transportation, infrastructure, and cross-cultural innovation. These are important industries that I never truly considered before. I recently graduated, so I’m also excited to be working in the heart of Baltimore and exploring everything that is unique about Charm City.

What is your dream job?

My passions lie in storytelling, event planning, and education. I have multiple years of experience working with nonprofit organizations in education and environmental sectors. In the near future, I look forward to expanding my work in the nonprofit industry with museums, community foundations, advocacy organizations, and other institutions that are on the front lines making the world a better place.

Welcome to the team!

Northeast Maglev is absolutely thrilled to have these two inspiring interns on board. Two additional interns from our joint internship with JR Central (JRC) will arrive in our Baltimore office later this summer. Look out for their introductions on our blog in just a few weeks!
